Hilton highlights Greek hotel openings and 2029 Waldorf Astoria

Hilton’s latest Greek destination guide features newly opened hotels in Athens and Chania alongside its island resorts and the planned Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay.

Online Franchise Chronicle · 7/16/2026

Hilton has highlighted newly opened hotels in Athens and Chania in a Greek heritage travel guide published on 16 July 2026, while pointing to the planned arrival of Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay in 2029. The company’s destination feature links its city and coastal properties with archaeological sites across mainland Greece and its islands.

The guide describes Conrad Athens The Ilisian as newly opened and Hilton Chania Old Town Resort & Spa as now open. Alongside those properties, it features hotels under the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Curio Collection by Hilton and LXR Hotels & Resorts brands.

For hotel operators and industry readers, the feature shows how Hilton is presenting properties across several brands through their proximity to cultural attractions. Its recommendations pair historic city locations with resort facilities such as wellness services, private pools and dining.

Athens and Corinth anchor mainland recommendations

In Athens, Hilton places Conrad Athens The Ilisian alongside Anise Aluma Athens, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, as accommodation options for visitors exploring the capital’s ancient landmarks. The company highlights wellness, gastronomy and curated experiences at the Conrad property, while identifying Anise Aluma Athens as close to the historic city centre.

The surrounding itinerary includes the Acropolis, Parthenon, Ancient Agora and Temple of Olympian Zeus. Hilton also directs visitors towards Plaka, where neoclassical buildings and narrow streets sit among ancient remains.

West of Athens, the guide features Isla Brown Corinthia Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by Hilton, as a seaside base for visiting Corinth and the wider Peloponnese. According to Hilton, the property combines views of the Saronic Gulf with wellness experiences, while the area’s attractions include Ancient Corinth, the Temple of Apollo and Acrocorinth fortress.

Island hotels linked to archaeological attractions

On Crete, Hilton Chania Old Town Resort & Spa is presented as a base within the historic city. The guide also features The Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton, highlighting its coastal setting, private pools and wellness offering.

Hilton’s Crete recommendations extend to the Palace of Knossos, the former ceremonial and political centre of Minoan civilisation. The company also draws attention to Chania’s Old Town and harbour, and the island’s Greek, Venetian and Ottoman influences.

For Mykonos, the company identifies Semeli Coast Mykonos, Curio Collection by Hilton, as a base for exploring both the island and nearby Delos. The latter is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with temples, marketplaces, mosaic-decorated houses and the Terrace of the Lions.

On Santorini, Sandblu Santorini, LXR Hotels & Resorts, is situated near Kamari at the foot of Ancient Thira, according to Hilton. The guide pairs the resort with visits to that elevated ancient settlement and Akrotiri, a Bronze Age site preserved beneath volcanic ash.

Waldorf Astoria scheduled for the Peloponnese

The mainland itinerary also covers Olympia, Sparta, Mycenae and Nafplio, broadening the feature beyond destinations with named operating hotels. Its Peloponnese section brings together ancient sporting sites, fortified ruins and the Venetian architecture of Nafplio.

Hilton identifies Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay as a future waterfront addition to the region, scheduled for 2029. That property provides the guide’s forward-looking development element alongside the operating hotels promoted across Greece.
