DoubleTree by Hilton plans August 4 cookie giveaway at US hotels

DoubleTree by Hilton will offer complimentary chocolate chip cookies to guests and the public at participating US hotels on August 4, with no reservation required.

Online Franchise Chronicle · 7/29/2026

DoubleTree by Hilton will mark National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day on August 4 by giving away its original warm chocolate chip cookies at participating hotels across the US. The offer is open to travellers and local residents without a hotel reservation, while supplies last, the company said.

The returning promotion extends a feature of DoubleTree’s check-in experience to people who are not staying at its hotels. For participating operators, the event brings the brand’s established guest welcome into a public-facing promotion, with visitors invited to stop by specifically for a cookie.

Original recipe takes centre stage

Alongside the giveaway, Hilton is drawing attention to a less obvious ingredient in the cookie: freshly squeezed lemon juice. The official recipe uses ¼ teaspoon in the dough, which the company says helps balance the sweetness and contributes to the cookie’s flavour and texture.

DoubleTree disclosed the ingredient when it published its official cookie recipe in 2020, allowing home bakers to make the cookies themselves. Other ingredients include butter, brown sugar, rolled oats and walnuts, as well as chocolate chips.

“Guests are always intrigued when they learn freshly squeezed lemon juice is part of the DoubleTree by Hilton chocolate chip cookie recipe,” said Drew Iddings, global brand leader, DoubleTree by Hilton. Iddings described the ingredient as a detail that attracted particular attention after the recipe became public.

According to Hilton, the cookies have been part of the brand’s welcome for decades. This year’s announcement puts that existing tradition, and the recipe behind it, at the centre of the August 4 event.

Participation and allergy-friendly availability

The advertised giveaway covers the original chocolate chip cookie at participating US properties. Hilton also said many DoubleTree hotels offer an allergy-friendly version made without the top nine allergens, although availability differs by hotel.

That alternative is described separately from the original-cookie promotion in the company’s announcement. Visitors can take part in the August 4 giveaway without booking a room, but complimentary cookies remain subject to supplies at participating hotels.
