Hilton has highlighted hotels across the United States in a destination feature linking road-trip travel with 250 years of American history. Published on 30 June, the company’s selection spans national park gateways, former railroad communities and urban landmarks, with properties ranging from Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountains to Oklahoma City and Chicago.
For hotel operators, the feature brings together examples of how Hilton properties incorporate their locations into accommodation, dining and guest services. The company points to completed renovations, historic building conversions, guided outdoor activities and a local outfitter partnership, alongside properties across its Tapestry Collection, Outset Collection and Curio Collection brands.
Renovations and heritage buildings
Among the featured properties is Skirvin Oklahoma City, a Hilton Hotel, which completed a comprehensive renovation in 2025. Opened in 1911, the hotel has hosted presidents, entertainers, business leaders and leisure guests, according to Hilton, and combines its historic building with updated interiors.
In Fishers, outside Indianapolis, Hotel Nickel Plate Fishers, Tapestry Collection by Hilton uses railway-inspired design to reflect the surrounding Nickel Plate District. The revitalised area takes its identity from the historic Nickel Plate Railroad, with the Nickel Plate Trail and local breweries among the nearby attractions highlighted by the company.
Hilton Pennywell St. Louis at the Arch occupies a former bank building near Gateway Arch National Park. Hilton said the property retains architectural features and craftsmanship associated with early 20th-century downtown St. Louis, while offering modern American dining and city views.
Family facilities and local partnerships in Tennessee
The Great Smoky Mountains selection includes the recently renovated Home2 Suites by Hilton Pigeon Forge. Its facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, water-play features and pet-friendly accommodation, with dinner shows and rides nearby.
Also in Pigeon Forge, Embassy Suites by Hilton Pigeon Forge Resort offers two-room suites, a pair of pools and an outdoor bar. The properties form part of Hilton’s family-travel offering near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which the company describes as America’s most-visited national park.
At Embassy Suites by Hilton Gatlinburg Resort, the national park borders the property on three sides. The resort has indoor and outdoor pools, a waterslide, a lazy river and more than 20,000 square feet of outdoor space for games and family activities.
The Gatlinburg resort’s Roaring Fork restaurant serves Appalachian-inspired food, while its Guide Room provides personalised trip-planning support through a local outfitter partnership. Walkways connect the resort with Hampton Inn Gatlinburg Historic Nature Trail, creating a linked hotel setting that Hilton said also accommodates gatherings.
Outdoor experiences and Chicago landmarks
Near Yellowstone National Park, Starlite Yellowstone, Tapestry Collection by Hilton draws on Western road-trip themes and mountain-town design. Hilton presents the property as a base for geothermal attractions, wildlife viewing and scenic drives, with communal areas for guests returning from the park.
In Utah, Slackline Moab, Outset Collection by Hilton is located near Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. The company said its guided experiences cater for different skill levels, while dedicated Van Life Posts provide stopping places for caravanners.
The Chicago selection contrasts historic accommodation with contemporary design. Hilton Chicago has welcomed guests on Michigan Avenue since 1927, close to Grant Park, Museum Campus and the lakefront, while ACME Hotel Chicago, Outset Collection by Hilton focuses on design reflecting the city’s creative culture.
LondonHouse Chicago, Curio Collection by Hilton occupies a historic Beaux-Arts building beside Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River, with a rooftop overlooking the waterways and architecture. Hilton positions the wider selection as road-trip accommodation for the US Semiquincentennial and travel beyond the anniversary.
