Hilton has announced the opening of Motto by Hilton Guadalajara Centro Historico, its second Motto property in Mexico, following its launch in summer 2026. The 154-room hotel in Guadalajara’s historic centre is owned and developed by Grupo Megaterra and occupies a restored 1950s Art Deco building.
The opening adds to Hilton’s lifestyle portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America, where the company said it is continuing to expand. For hotel industry readers, the project brings together the conversion of a former residential building, compact accommodation with connecting-room options, and dining outlets serving both hotel guests and local customers.
Residential building converted for hotel use
Architect Agustín Acevedo originally designed the building as apartments in the 1950s. According to Hilton, the conversion retains its functionalist Art Deco heritage while adapting the property to Motto’s emphasis on urban locations, flexible rooms and experiences linked to the surrounding neighbourhood.
The hotel is one block from Plaza Fundadores, which the company identifies as Guadalajara’s birthplace. Teatro Degollado, Instituto Cultural Cabañas, Guadalajara Cathedral and San Juan Market are all within walking distance, placing the property close to the historic centre’s cultural attractions.
Rooms feature multifunctional furniture and Hilton’s Confirmed Connecting Room technology, allowing guests travelling together to select different accommodation configurations. The property has 69 connecting rooms, with guests able to link up to 3 at a time, according to the company.
Dining outlets target guests and local customers
Two food and beverage outlets form the focus of the hotel’s public spaces. Hilton said both are intended to bring local residents and staying guests into the property, in line with Motto’s neighbourhood-focused approach.
La BienQuerida is the full-service restaurant, drawing on Mexican cantinas for its food and drink offering. The other outlet, Doña Elvira, is a café offering traditional Mexican breads and artisanal coffees.
The hotel also participates in Hilton Honors, with direct bookings through preferred Hilton channels providing member discounts, standard Wi-Fi at no charge and the option to combine points with money. Guests can use the loyalty programme’s app to check in, select a room and gain digital access to it.
Regional development pipeline exceeds 150 properties
Maxime Verstraete, Hilton’s vice president of brand management for the Caribbean and Latin America, linked the opening to the company’s continued expansion of its lifestyle portfolio across the region. He said Guadalajara’s culture and creativity suited the Motto brand and its focus on connecting stays with the surrounding neighbourhood.
Hilton said the Guadalajara property joins a regional operating portfolio of more than 300 hotels across the Caribbean and Latin America. Its next phase of expansion includes more than 150 properties at various stages of development, spanning urban and resort destinations.
