The beachfront opening expands Hilton’s flagship presence in Malaysia, with dining, wellness and events facilities ahead of planned Waldorf Astoria and Conrad openings in Kuala Lumpur.

Hilton announced the opening of Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort in Malaysia on 29 June 2026, adding 251 rooms and suites to its flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand. The beachfront property occupies almost 22 acres between tropical rainforest and the Andaman Sea.

The resort combines accommodation with four dining concepts, wellness facilities and more than 5,400 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. Its facilities address family holidays, restorative stays and group gatherings, with connecting rooms, recreational activities and venues for weddings and corporate retreats.

Alexandra Murray, Hilton’s area vice president and head of South East Asia, said the opening formed part of the company’s commitment to extending its flagship brand into Malaysian leisure destinations. She linked the expansion to changing traveller requirements and the company’s plans to grow its portfolio in the country.

Accommodation and dining

Every room and suite has a private terrace or balcony, with views of the rainforest, mountains or sea. Accommodation ranges from Terrace and Deluxe Rooms to Executive Suites, while 16 connecting rooms are intended to support multi-generational stays.

The company said the architecture follows the coastline’s contours, using stone, timber and neutral colours. Interiors also draw on the surrounding rainforest through wood and stone-textured finishes.

The food and beverage offer includes Gingerfire, an all-day restaurant serving Asian and international dishes, and Haliya Lounge, which provides coffee and light meals incorporating local botanicals. MINGZHU focuses on the culinary traditions of Yunnan’s ethnic tribes, while Trattoria Mare offers Italian dining in an open-air seaside setting.

Wellness, recreation and event capacity

The resort’s eforea Spa uses an open-pavilion layout and includes outdoor sauna barrels, a Salt Room and an Elixir Lounge serving teas. Elsewhere, the property has three swimming pools for families, children and adults respectively, alongside five meditative rock pools.

A Nature Center provides guided rainforest walks and activities exploring Langkawi’s biodiversity. Tennis, pickleball and basketball courts complement a Kids’ Club with a weekly programme that includes origami, bracelet making, chess and foosball.

For meetings and celebrations, the Orchid Grand Ballroom provides a 4,455-square-foot pillarless venue accommodating up to 210 guests. The Orchid and Jasmine rooms offer smaller spaces for boardroom meetings and breakout sessions, while the Grand Lawn and 650-metre private beachfront provide outdoor event settings.

Vincent Ong, Hilton’s vice president, Full Service Brands, Asia Pacific, said the company was developing its portfolio in response to travellers placing greater emphasis on restoration and purposeful discovery. He said the Langkawi resort was designed to encourage guests to slow down and engage with the island’s surroundings.

Further Malaysian openings planned

The property participates in Hilton Honors and is offering members 5,000 points for a minimum three-night stay under an opening promotion valid until 31 October 2026. Members booking through Hilton’s preferred direct channels also receive benefits including member discounts and free standard Wi-Fi.

The Langkawi opening follows the recent debuts of Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie and Hilton Garden Inn Kota Kinabalu Tuaran. Hilton said its Malaysian expansion would continue with Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur and Conrad Kuala Lumpur expected to open later this year.
