Pilates Addiction passes 350 licences sold as 75 studios prepare to open

The US Pilates franchise is shifting its focus from franchise sales to studio openings, with 75 locations preparing to launch through early 2027.

Online Franchise Chronicle · 10/14/2026

Pilates Addiction has surpassed 350 licences sold across 27 US states and has 75 studios preparing to launch through early 2027, the franchise announced on Oct. 13, 2026. The Sequel Brands company said it now has 40 studios operating across 12 states as it moves into what it describes as its largest opening programme to date.

The announcement marks a change in emphasis for the boutique fitness business, just over a year into its national expansion. After concentrating on franchise sales, Pilates Addiction is turning its attention to bringing those locations into operation, supported by systems covering property selection, training, pre-opening marketing and studio launches.

Opening pipeline spans multiple US markets

New studios are planned across Texas, California, Florida, Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio and Georgia. The company also identified Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, Denver and Las Vegas among the major markets where it expects to extend its presence.

The 75 studios preparing to launch form the next stage of a rollout whose sold-licence footprint already covers 27 states, compared with the 12 states currently hosting operating studios. For franchise owners, the immediate focus is therefore on the work needed to move from an awarded licence to an open business.

Chief executive Sarah Luna said the next phase was the aspect of the milestone that most interested her. She said studios were opening and memberships were building, adding: “This fall will set the pace for what's ahead.”

Equipment and class format underpin the concept

Pilates Addiction centres its studio model on its patented Aurum™ Reformer, which the company says is exclusive to the brand. Its locations use a black-and-gold design, while the programming combines Pilates movements with the group experience associated with boutique fitness.

The class range includes IGNITE, CORE+, MAX and MOBILITY RX, offering different approaches to strength, mobility and progression within the studio. According to the company, certified Educators lead anatomy-informed, full-body sessions intended to develop strength, control and mobility.

Those equipment, training and programming elements are central to the experience the company is seeking to reproduce as more franchise locations open. Pilates Addiction presents them as distinguishing features of its offer, alongside the studio design and emphasis on client experience.

Expansion follows reported growth in participation

The company linked its rollout to rising participation in Pilates in the US. It cited Sports & Fitness Industry Association data reported by Athletech News showing that participation reached 13.8 million people in 2025, an increase of 6.8% year over year.

The next stated milestone is the launch of the studios preparing to open through early 2027. For operators, that puts the company's property, training and launch support at the centre of its expansion plans as the operating network grows beyond its current 40 locations.
