Hilton signs London Bridge Hotel for Tapestry Collection debut

A franchise agreement with Gama Holdings will bring Tapestry Collection to London, with the 153-room hotel expected to join in early 2028 following a transformation costing more than £12 million.

Hilton has signed a franchise agreement with Gama Holdings to bring London Bridge Hotel into Tapestry Collection by Hilton, establishing the brand’s first property in the UK capital. The 153-room hotel is expected to open under the brand in early 2028 following a transformation costing more than £12 million.

The agreement will make Tapestry Collection Hilton’s ninth brand represented in London, according to the company. It also extends the collection’s UK and Ireland development pipeline, following recently announced signings in Plymouth and Cork.

Refurbishment and restaurant operations

The hotel stands at 8–18 London Bridge Street, beside London Bridge Station. The Shard, Borough Market, Tower Bridge and the South Bank cultural district are within walking distance.

Plans include garden vault rooms among the accommodation options and a redesigned ground floor with several food and beverage outlets. Individual Restaurants will operate all of those outlets, giving the hospitality business a defined role in the property’s repositioning.

Hilton said it expected the hotel to attract both business and leisure guests, citing corporate demand and its location. The refurbishment will therefore cover both the guest accommodation and the ground-floor dining offer ahead of the planned opening.

Long-standing owner joins Hilton network

Simon Elias, president of Gama Holdings, said the business had owned London Bridge Hotel for more than 30 years. He described the partnership as a way to combine the property’s character and heritage with Hilton’s wider hospitality network.

Christian Charnaux, Hilton’s executive vice president and chief development officer, said the signing reflected continued opportunities for growth in London and across the UK and Ireland. He also linked the agreement to owner demand for Hilton’s scale and commercial capabilities.

For the hotel, joining the collection will include participation in Hilton Honors. Guests booking directly through Hilton will be able to earn and redeem loyalty points and access benefits including member discounts, room selection and contactless check-in, the company said.

UK and Ireland development pipeline

Tapestry Collection brings together independent hotels whose design, food and drink reflect their destinations, according to Hilton. The London agreement applies that model to an existing property through a franchise arrangement with its long-standing owner.

The brand already has four operating UK properties: The Samuel Ryder Hotel St Albans, Elmbank York, The Marcus Portrush and Dover Marina Hotel & Spa. Its forthcoming additions include New Continental Plymouth and Cork City Centre.

Both the Plymouth and Cork hotels are due to open in 2027, ahead of London Bridge Hotel’s anticipated arrival. The London property’s next phase is the refurbishment and repositioning programme ahead of its expected early 2028 debut.
