Hilton is highlighting local dining and destination experiences at Canopy Cape Town Longkloof, its 154-room hotel in Cape Town’s Longkloof neighbourhood that opened in 2025. The company’s destination spotlight centres on the property’s restaurant, Ongetem, and access to attractions ranging from the waterfront to nearby mountain trails.
According to Hilton, guests can arrange many of the featured experiences through the hotel, including a coastal drive in a Cobra sports car. For hotel operators, the offering brings together accommodation, an on-site restaurant led by a South African chef and assistance with activities beyond the property.
Bertus Basson restaurant anchors dining offer
Ongetem is South African chef Bertus Basson’s newest restaurant, according to Hilton. Its name means untamed in Afrikaans, and its menu spans meats cooked over flame, pastries baked fresh, wines from local producers and cocktails.
The restaurant’s concept draws together butchery, baking and cocktail-making. It places food and drink within the hotel’s own offering, alongside the dining options available in the surrounding neighbourhood.
Kloof Street, with its restaurants, boutiques and bars, is within walking distance of the property. Hilton also describes the city centre, waterfront and beaches as a short drive away, giving guests access to both neighbourhood businesses and attractions elsewhere in Cape Town.
Coastal drives and mountain walks
Among the activities promoted by Hilton is a convertible Cobra drive along Chapman’s Peak Drive, which can be booked through the hotel. The 9-kilometre coastal road runs between Hout Bay and Noordhoek, following 114 curves through the cliffs with views over the Atlantic Ocean.
For guests seeking walking routes, Hilton points to Table Mountain and Lion’s Head, both a few minutes’ drive from the hotel. The company identifies sunrise and sunset as popular times for hikes, with panoramic views available from the trails.
A further excursion is Boulders Beach near Simon’s Town, where visitors can see a colony of African penguins. Boardwalks and sheltered beaches provide places from which to observe the birds.
Waterfront culture and Winelands excursions
Hilton’s recommendations also cover Cape Town’s waterfront district, combining shopping and dining with cultural visits. Attractions include Zeitz MOCAA, which the company describes as the largest museum devoted to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora.
Beyond the city, the company points guests towards the Cape Winelands, including Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, for vineyards, historic towns and wineries. These excursions extend the food-and-wine experiences highlighted in Hilton’s account beyond Ongetem, with many of the wider destination activities available to arrange through the hotel.
