Hilton outlines Honors app’s role in bookings and hotel services

Hilton has detailed how its loyalty app connects reservations, room access, hotel messaging and rewards, with some functions available only at participating properties.

Hilton has outlined how its Hilton Honors app brings bookings, digital room access, hotel services and loyalty rewards into a single platform for members using its global hotel portfolio. In a company newsroom post, the group described tools spanning trip planning through departure, while noting that some functions depend on availability at individual properties.

The account sets out the app’s role across several areas of hotel operations, including pre-arrival enquiries, check-in, guest requests and checkout. It describes existing capabilities rather than announcing a new product launch, with direct booking and loyalty account management sitting alongside services used during a stay.

Bookings and pre-arrival contact

Members can search and compare hotels, book accommodation and manage reservations through the app, according to Hilton. Searches can reflect preferred amenities and experiences, while members can access Hilton Honors rates, offers and promotions.

The platform also displays account information, Points balances and stay-related benefits, including MyWay hotel benefits for eligible members. Before arrival, guests can review property information, browse restaurant menus, follow reservation links and contact hotel teams through chat.

For operators, the functions described provide a guest contact channel before a traveller reaches the property and throughout the visit. Hilton said members can use messaging to ask questions or make requests, with the same channel remaining available for support and recommendations during their stay.

Digital arrival and in-room controls

At available properties, members can check in digitally and select a room from an interactive hotel map before reaching the hotel. Digital Key then allows guests to go directly to their selected room and unlock it with the app, rather than stopping at the front desk.

Digital Key Share extends room access to up to four additional guests, allowing travel companions to enter independently. Hilton presents these arrival tools as a way to simplify check-in and access when travel schedules change.

At select properties, the app can also serve as a remote control for the in-room television. Members can browse channels and access streaming services covering entertainment, music, wellness and games.

Guests can save preferred channels and apps to the television’s home screen, and Hilton said those preferences can carry over to future stays. Other in-stay functions include access to dining information, hotel services and messaging with staff for local recommendations or assistance.

Checkout and rewards beyond the hotel

At departure, members can check out, submit feedback and retrieve receipts and stay information through the app without visiting the front desk. They can subsequently review account activity, track Points and monitor progress towards their next elite membership tier.

Hilton’s partnership with Lyft also allows members to link accounts to earn and redeem Hilton Honors Points on rides. The company described this as extending the app’s usefulness beyond the property, including airport transfers and journeys during a visit.

The app supports Points tracking and redemption for future hotel bookings as well. Hilton said a social-led promotion this summer, involving Paris Hilton and Lando Norris, is giving away Hilton Honors Points.

Hilton Honors membership is free, and the app is available to download without charge on iOS and Android devices. Members can continue using it after departure to manage rewards and plan subsequent stays.
